Rule of Law
Rule of law is a means of ordering Society including that state-citizen relationship. It includes systems of rules and regulations, the norms that infuse them, and the means of adjudicating and enforcing them.
Since its founding Peace Development Action has successfully delivered various rule of law projects in Somalia. We firmly believe that rule of law is a fundamental component to the achievement of sustainable development in Somalia.
As an outcome of development, rule of law is a central dimension to combating poverty and injustice in the Somali Society.
As a principle of governance, rule of law makes all persons, institutions, and entities, including government, accountable to laws that are publicly promulgated, equally enforced, and independently adjudicated.
Rule of law allows people and communities to transact; property rights and their protection contribute to long-term economic growth and development.
Legal empowerment blends community empowerment and mobilization with legal capacity building and advocacy to build the voice and political impact of the poor and marginalized in Somali Society.
We conducted several legal literacy training workshops as well as training on human rights and especially women and child rights to law enforcement agencies, media, various community groups, and community-based organizations.
We also organized and carried out awareness-raising campaigns through pamphlets, stickers, and media programs. Sensational songs and poems in drama plays are also ways and means that we promote the rule of law and human rights.
