Cash Transfers

The objective of our work is to help targeted vulnerable beneficiaries meet their immediate basic needs by providing them with unconditional cash transfers by means of an electronic distribution mechanism (mobile money).A significant portion of the households that we target or marginally able to meet their minimum food needs others face large consumption gaps resulting in very high acute malnutrition, with a smaller number facing extreme lack of food and other basic needs where starvation, death and destitution are apparent.

Cash transfers stimulate recovery by creating short-term income flows and increasing beneficiary purchasing power. This in turn, supports trade and helps to build market linkages thereby increasing access to goods and services supporting local traders and businesses. Thus spurring the larger community and area as a whole rather than just the targeted households.
